
United Airlines expands service to the US Virgin Islands

ST THOMAS, USVI: United Airlines has
announced three additional weekly flights from its hubs at Chicago O'Hare
International Airport (ORD) and Washington Dulles International (IAD), to
Cyril E. King airport (STT) in St. Thomas, beginning Saturday, December 17,
2005.
Augmenting United Airlines’ existing
service, the new flights between Chicago and Washington, D.C. to St. Thomas,
are scheduled to maximize convenience and connections to the U.S. territory.
The additional service will be operated with an Airbus (A-320) aircraft, with
12 first class and 126 coach class seats.
“We are very pleased about the success of
United Airlines’ existing flights and the airline’s continued investment in
the U.S. Virgin Islands,” stated Commissioner of Tourism Pamela C. Richards.
“We’re excited about the opportunity to welcome additional travelers from
around the world who now have more options for traveling to the U.S. Virgin
Islands via two of the nation’s largest international airport gateways.”
United will fly three flights per week, on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday
between Chicago and St. Thomas. The flight is scheduled to depart Chicago
O'Hare International Airport at 8:20 AM, and arrive on St. Thomas at 3:03 PM
(flight #1065). The return flight (flight # 1063) departs St. Thomas at 2:04
PM and arrives in Chicago at 7:03 PM.
Each week, United will offer four flights on
Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday between Washington, D.C. and St.
Thomas. On Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday, flights are scheduled to depart
Washington Dulles International Airport at 8:25 AM, and arrive in St. Thomas
at 1:15 PM (flight # 1063).
The return flight (flight # 1065) departs
St. Thomas at 3:59 PM and arrives in Washington, D.C. at 8:43 PM. The Thursday
flight departs Washington, D.C. at 9:20 AM and arrives in St. Thomas at 2:10
PM (flight # 991). The return flight from St. Thomas departs at 3:20 PM and
arrives in Washington, D.C. at 7:50 PM (flight # 991). All flights are now
available for booking.
