TURKS & CAICOS ISLANDS: The Turks and Caicos Hotel and Tourism Association (TCHTA) has released occupancy rate figures showing a 19
percent increase in occupancy rates from January to March 2005, compared to the first quarter of 2004.
The growth in occupancy is being welcomed by Chief Executive of the TCHTA
Caesar Campbell who has stated that the comparative occupancy rates have
continued to rise in April and May according to statistics collected from
Association members.
He comments “It is clear that the progress
being made in terms of air service enhancement, product development and our
cooperative and collaborative marketing efforts is helping the tourism
industry to attract increasing number of visitors to the destination.”
TCHTA Chairman and Managing Director of Coral Garden Resorts, Andre Niederhauser comments “We are delighted to have seen such an upturn in figures from TCHTA members. At Coral Gardens, we have made significant additions to the service including special spa, romantic and culinary packages that capture the imagination of current and new guests. Similar initiatives to add value to guest experiences are happening in most of our member hotels. Our efforts are bearing fruit and we look forward to the upward trend continuing throughout the summer and in the Fall.”
Chief Executive Caesar Campbell adds “The Turks and Caicos Islands has managed to encourage airlift to the destination on an unprecedented scale over the last few years. The investment the airlines and Government has made, along with hoteliers is giving us all a good return. We will continue to work with our tourism partners, the Tourist Board and Government to build on the success of this first quarter.”
