BVI’S Virgin Gorda airport to remain open
Wednesday, July 6, 2005
ROAD TOWN, BVI: In keeping with the British Virgin Islands Chief Minister’s promise to give an update on the Virgin Gorda airport, acting Chief Minister, Ronnie Skelton, held discussions Tuesday morning with Air Safety Support International (ASSI) officials.
It was agreed that the Virgin Gorda Airport will remain open and continue to operate with a provisional certificate. The British Virgin Islands Government will, however, continue discussions with ASSI officials with a view to establishing the terms and conditions of this provisional certificate. In the long term, discussions will continue as to full certification of the Virgin Gorda airport.
Last Thursday the Chief Minister announced that, in consultation with the owners of Little Dix Bay Hotel, the Virgin Gorda airport would remain open until his government met with ASSI officials Tuesday.
