
Seven players drafted into West Indies ‘A’ team in Sri Lanka

ST. JOHN'S, Antigua: The West Indies selectors have replaced the members of the West Indies 'A' team who have joined the senior team for its tour to Sri Lanka with seven fresh players.
The players who departed the Caribbean on the weekend en route to Sri Lanka are: Tishan Maraj; Lendl Simmons; Siewnarine Chattergoon; Darren Sammy; Kenroy Peters; Richard Kelly and Jean Paul.
With the Third Test being pushed back two days from Tuesday July
5 to Thursday July 7, the travelling contingent will join the team in time for the third and final "unofficial" Test between the West Indies 'A' and Sri Lanka 'A'. They will also take part in the five match One-Day series slated to be played on the 13, 14, 16, 18 and 19.
A-team captain Darren Ganga said the team is has put last week's disappointments behind them and are now focus on the job ahead.
"We had a good team meeting at dinner and everyone is fully focussed on what we came here to do - play cricket and represent the region to the best of our ability," Ganga said.
Omari Banks; Kerry Jeremy; Narsingh Deonarine; Jermaine Lawson; Xavier Marshall; Runako Morton; and Ryan Ramdass are the players drafted into the senior team to replace the excluding players.
The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) on Thursday named a 14-man squad to tour Sri Lanka with ten of the regional senior players - including world number one batsman Brian Lara.
