ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada: Spice Island Beach Resort in Grenada is getting ready to unveil an unmatched level of accommodations and unprecedented brand of flair, style and timeless luxury when the property re-opens this year. To facilitate and make this project a reality the Resort has embarked on $10 million rebuilding project.
Owner of the Resort, Sir Royston Hopkin, KCMG, said that with the 2007 Cricket World Cup and the many demands that will arrive with it, it is imperative that the Spice Inn rebuild with more space and more luxury.
“As Spice's Inn most premium accommodations, the 4 Royal Collection Suites namely Royal Ginger, Royal Mace, Royal Clove and Royal Sage, are virtual mini-villas. With each measuring 1,500 square feet and featuring a 16' x 20' swimming pool, the suites in the Royal Collection redefine ultra-elegance with separate bedroom and living room, a marble bathroom with luxurious double whirlpool tub, private outdoor terrace and much more than your everyday suite,” said Sir Royston.
A part of the hotel’s new look will be 6 Luxury Almond Pool Suites which according to Sir Royston will be ideal for couples seeking the ultimate in privacy. Measuring the same as the suites in the Royal Collection, the Luxury Almond Pool Suites feature a spacious bedroom/living room area, stylish bathroom, private entrance and tropical gardens.
It was also stated that 7 Anthurium Pool Suites will each span 1,200 square feet, featuring a plunge pool, personal gardens, and a shaded porch for quiet moments or a savoury private meal.
Fronting golden-hued Grand Anse Beach are 32 luxury Seagrape Suites, considered junior suites, stretching to 700 square feet. New fully-furnished patios, stylish-designed living areas and ensuite bathrooms with views of the sparkling Caribbean make the Seagrape Suites spectacular.
Tucked into lush gardens are the 13 Oleander Suites (10 on the upper floor and three on the ground floor) at 620 square feet. Situated a short distance from the beach, the Oleander Suites are highlighted by breezy balconies or patios and magnificent views of the ocean and surrounding gardens.
For a new spin on beach-side elegance, the palatial Cinnamon and Saffron Suites, at 1,420 square feet each, right at the edge of the Caribbean Sea, boast a style and sophistication befitting royalty. Each suite is exquisitely furnished with a dining table for six, spacious living room, master bedroom with canopy bed, and private patios. The Cinnamon and Saffron Suites can connect to Seagrape Suites creating a nice option for friends and families travelling together.
Attention to detail will be found in each of the luxurious 64 rooms with contemporary Caribbean décor, over-sized whirlpool, flat screen televisions with cable, Italian Frette bathrobes and linens, DVD and CD players, Molton Brown amenities, mini-bar, clock radio, hair dryer, air conditioning, ceiling fan, iron and ironing board, direct dial telephone with Internet access, safe, coffee/tea facility, toaster, chaise lounges and patio or balcony.
Complementing the stylish and spacious suites will be the following facilities: the full-service Janissa's Spa, a fitness centre, an open-air, beachside gourmet restaurant, the Sea & Surf Bar for refreshing cocktails throughout the day, a central swimming pool and Jacuzzi, a tennis court, the Gatsby Boutique and more. Sir Royston Hopkin said that additional details will be made available in the coming months.
Spice Island Beach Resort has been closed since last September following damages sustained from Hurricane Ivan. In recent time the resort was presented with many distinguish awards namely the four diamonds award, The Condenas Yonason Award and the Green Globe certification among others.
