
John Holt added to St Kitts Music Festival lineup

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts: Reggae’s shining star John Holt brings his mystical style to St. Kitts and Nevis on Friday, June 24 when he takes centre stage at the St. Kitts Music Festival. “On an island renowned for its superb vocalists and composers, John Holt still stands head and shoulders above the rest as one of Jamaica's sweetest singers and enduring songwriters,” raves VH1.com. A veteran of more than forty years, Holt has produced unforgettable hits such as “Forever I’ll Stay,” “I Cried a Tear” and “Rum Bumper” a duet with Alton Ellis. Marketing Chairman Clement “Juni” Liburd told SKNIS that the clear distinctive voice of the legendary reggae star is a welcome addition to the roster of artistes slated to appear at the 9th annual event. In 1958 at the age of 12, Holt entered his first contest, run by promoter Joseph Verejohn. Over the next four years, the youngster became a staple of these shows, notching up a record-breaking 28 titles. He enjoyed numerous achievements as a member of the Paragons and later as a solo artiste. Holt, will share the June 24 stage with Ludacris, T.O.K., Keisha Shante and Bambu B. The 9th St. Kitts Music Festival takes place from June 23 to 26 at the historic grounds of the Fort Thomas Hotel.
