Jamaica's Usain Bolt to focus on outdoor season

FLORIDA, USA - Jamaica's sprinting prodigy Usain Bolt will skip the indoor season and focus on the outdoor series where he is scheduled to compete for the first time this month at a local outdoor meeting in Jamaica.

"He (Bolt) has skipped the indoor season as he is concentrating on the outdoors for this year, but should do so this month at a local meet in Jamaica," said Bolt's manager Norman Peart.

Bolt stole the the limelight last year at age 17 by setting a World junior record of 19.93 in April. The 18-year-old who has not competed since his Olympics 200-metres first round exit in August is ready to make his season debut.

"Usain is doing well in training and thankfully no problems," said Mr. Peart.

Bolt now trains with Glen Mills, the nation's national senior team head coach for the past 17 years. Mills is the also the head coach of a local organized track and field club call The Racers Athletic Club (RAC). Among those under the watchful eyes of Glen Mills at the RAC are, Olympic relay gold medallist Aleen Bailey, World junior record-holder Usain Bolt, St. Kitts World 100 metres Champion Kim Collins as well as Trinidad and Tobago's sprinter Nicconnor Alexander.
