Guyana’s Braithwaite to meet WBA champ in rearranged title fight
Monday, November 1, 2004
PARIS, France (AFP): France's WBA light heavyweight world champion Jean-Marc Mormeck will fight WBC world titleholder Wayne Braithwaite of Guyana for their respective crowns on January 22, the Frenchman's press officer told AFP on Saturday. The original contest on October 2 had to be postponed because Mormeck injured his right ankle while in training in September. While the original fight was destined to be held at Madison Square Garden in New York the press officer said no venue had been decided on for the new bout. Mormeck, who is part of the Don King stable, owns a record of 29 victories, including 21 inside the distance, and two defeats in 32 fights.
