GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands: Last week,
Cayman Net News, the sister publication of Caribbean Net News, was honoured to
receive a visit from the Governor of the Cayman Islands, Mr Bruce Dinwiddy,
and his wife Emma. Mr DInwiddy took time out
of his very busy schedule to call in at the newspaper’s temporary operations
in the Cable and Wireless building, One Technology Square, in George Town,
where staff has been working long and hard to keep readers informed in the
wake of Ivan, both online and in print.
Members of the Cable and Wireless management team were also on hand to greet
the governor. Mr and Mrs Dindiddy met the
core newsroom and production team and chatted with them, along with the
Publisher and Editor-in-Chief, Mr Desmond Seales. He learned first hand about
the challenges of the current circumstances to get the news in print to the
Cayman Islands public and the average 25,000 daily website visitors.
The team was able to demonstrate how quickly news could be sent around the
world online by posting a photograph taken of the Governor and his wife’s
arrival on the home page of caymannetnews.com prior to their departure from
One Technology Square.
