ST GEORGE‘S, Grenada: The Venezuelan
government has extended its assistance to hurricane ravaged Grenada, which
felt the wrath of deadly Ivan early September.
The Latin American country has agreed to assist in the reconstruction of 22
schools seriously damaged by the powerful winds of hurricane Ivan.
Material will be provided by Venezuela as well as personnel. There are already
several engineers among other skilled workers who are presently in Grenada and
more are expected to arrive here soon. Most
schools, as expected, are unable to function since they were either totally
destroyed or without roof. Over one hundred
Venezuelan soldiers arrived here shortly after the passage of Ivan and were
engaged in clearing the debris from the streets and assisting Grenadians in
bringing back normalcy to the country.
