ST. MICHAEL, Barbados: Hundreds of Guyanese
students will not be receiving CXC results following allegations of fraud,
according to the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC).
Guyana’s Chief Education Officer and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of
Education will be visiting Barbados later this week to ascertain where
possible irregularities could have started and to seek a clear reason as to
why the council withheld the results of hundreds of Guyanese students.
The CXC members will be meeting this week to determine if the students should
re-sit the exams. Guyana’s Minister of Education Henry Jeffery said he has not
received any response from the regional examiners to his request for evidence
to show their claims of the students receiving the exam paper before the
examinations. The measurement and evaluation
division of the examining body has disclosed that there has been exceptionally
high pass rates in some centers where the examinations were held.
