Rain washes out New Zealand-Windies match
Friday, July 9, 2004
SOUTHAMPTON, England (AFP): Rain forced the
NatWest Series one-day international between New Zealand and the West Indies
at the Rose Bowl here Thursday to be abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Earlier rain had seen the match reduced in
length from 50 overs per side to 20 but as the umpires took the field shortly
before the new start time of 1532 GMT a fresh downpour ended any hopes of
play.
Both sides had already qualified for
Saturday's final at Lord's.
