Caribbean Star Airlines announces joint frequent flyer programme with Virgin Atlantic
Friday, July 2, 2004
ST JOHN’S, Antigua: Caribbean Star Airlines
recently announced that an agreement has been signed which allows Star Miles
passengers to earn and burn mileage in conjunction with travel on Virgin
Atlantic Airways.
A one-way agreement had been in existence
for some time, whereby Virgin Atlantic's passengers were able to amass miles
for travel on Caribbean Star Airlines. With immediate effect, Star Miles
members can also take advantage of a range of initiatives under the joint
plan. Sandra Scotland, Director of Marketing
at Caribbean Star Airlines said, "This initiative has been in the pipeline for
some time now and we are very pleased that our Star Miles members can now
trade miles they have earned on an international carrier."
Scotland added that for as little as
US$299.00 and 6000 miles, Frequent Flyers would be able to purchase a return
ticket to London, which is an exceptional benefit. "The joint programme can
also be effective for hoteliers in the region, since vacations to the
Caribbean become that much more affordable through complimentary inter-island
frequent flyer travel". The Star Miles
programme is now fully automated for added convenience. Points are entered on
check-in and regular monthly statements are mailed to active members for easy
reconciliation of their accounts. There is also an additional incentive of 50
free miles to new members on signing up. For
