ST. GEORGE‘S, Grenada: Three Venezuelan
nationals are nursing bullet wounds at the General hospital here after they
were shot by police on Saturday evening. The
police were reportedly on investigations in the south of the Caribbean island
when eleven Venezuelan men were spotted on a fishing boat.
Eight Venezuelans are now in custody being
interrogated by police. Though this incident
happened since Saturday there has been no official release from the police
Public Relations Department up to Monday afternoon and the circumstances
surrounding how the men got shot are still unclear.
One of the attorneys representing the men claimed his clients are fishermen
who he understands were unarmed when police opened fire on them.
The three Venezuelans bleeding profusely were whisked away to receive medical
treatment at the island's largest medical facility in the capital and are now
warded there under police protection.
