Wednesday, April 14, 2004
ST. JOHNS, Antigua (AFP): West Indies have
recalled Mervyn Dillon and experienced batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul for the
first three one-day Internationals of seven against England, starting at
Georgetown on Sunday. Dillon, the most
experienced West Indies fast bowler of the current crop with 38 Tests and 98
One-day Internationals, returns after missing the entire ongoing four-Test
series against England. Chanderpaul also
returns after he was omitted from the fourth and final Test against England at
the Antigua Recreation Ground. Fast bowlers
Fidel Edwards, Pedro Collins and Tino Best, who have formed the fast bowling
attack throughout the Test series, along with Corey Collymore, have all been
replaced for the series. Dillon, Ian Bradshaw and Ravi Rampaul have all come
in. All-rounder Dwayne Bravo, who has
distinguished himself with consistent performances in the West Indies domestic
first-class competition over the last two years, is the only complete
newcomer.
