
Trinidad government to aid BWIA

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (AFP): The
government of Trinidad and Tobago has decided to inject 40 million dollars
into the debt-ridden regional airline, British West Indies Airways (BWIA),
trade and industry minister Ken Valley said Tuesday.
"Cabinet has agreed to a proposal to restructure the balance sheet of BWIA
which suffered heavy losses over the past few years," Valley said after a
Cabinet meeting. BWIA's debts total at least
100 million dollars, according to the last published figures.
