Northern Ireland's Caribbean tour is in doubt
Sunday, March 21, 2004
BELFAST, Northern Ireland: Northern Ireland's planned Caribbean tour is in doubt after problems arose with two of the three scheduled games, according to BBC Sports
The tour, starting in late May 2004, was to have included friendlies against Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis and Trinidad and Tobago.
However, it has emerged the Jamaican Football Federation no longer want to play the fixture scheduled for 30 May.
Northern Ireland's final opponents, Trinidad and Tobago, want to switch the 5 June match to a United Kingdom venue.
It is understood negotiations are taking place with other Caribbean sides, including Barbados, in an attempt to find suitable alternative opponents.
The Irish Football Association hope to have the matter sorted out within a week.
