Sunday, March 21, 2004
PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten: U.S. and Dutch authorities intercepted a sailboat carrying 660 pounds of cocaine and were escorting the ship into port Friday with its four crew members, officials said.
The Sunrise, a 100-foot sailboat, would likely be escorted to Puerto Rico along with four Bulgarians who were on board, said a spokeswoman for the Netherlands Antilles Coast Guard.
The boat appeared to have been heading between either Aruba or Curaçao and other Dutch territories in the Windward Islands when it was stopped Wednesday.
