Tuesday, February 24, 2004
CASTRIES, St Lucia: The Duke of York attended a military parade Monday to commemorate St Lucia's 25th anniversary of independence.
According to a report by Britain's Press Association, Prince Andrew, along with Gov Gen Dame Pearlette Louisy, inspected various military units. Sailors from visiting British, French and Venezuelan navies joined local military detachments for the occasion.
The Duke, who did not make any remarks at the parade attended by hundreds, is scheduled to attend a state dinner at the Sandals Grande St Lucian Spa & Beach resort tonight.
He leaves Tuesday for St Vincent and the Grenadines, the next stop in a five-nation Caribbean tour that ends on February 29.
