
Grenada PM appointed to Privy Council

ST GEORGE'S, Grenada: The following announcement was made in London today by Number 10 Downing
Street:
"Her Majesty The Queen has been graciously pleased to approve that Dr. the Honourable Keith Mitchell be appointed a member of Her Majesty's most honourable Privy Council."
Dr Mitchell also received a personal letter of congratulations from British Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Prime Minister Mitchell, upon learning of the appointment today, said he is deeply honoured to be appointed to such a distinguished body.
The Privy Council's main functions are to advise the Sovereign and to exercise its own statutory responsibilities independent of the Sovereign in Council.
Membership is accorded by The Queen to eminent people in the United Kingdom and independent countries of the Commonwealth of which Her Majesty is Queen, on the recommendation of the British Prime Minister.
The appointment means that Prime Minister Mitchell's title will be: Dr. the Right Honourable Keith Mitchell, PC, MP.
