Plot to kill Jamaican police chief

KINGSTON, Jamaica: Authorities have launched an investigation into a plot to kill Jamaica's police chief, officials said Wednesday.

According to a report by the Sun-Sentinel, police learned of the conspiracy about three weeks ago, prompting Commissioner Francis Forbes to increase his security detail, police spokeswoman Ionie Ramsay-Nelson said.

A police officer and a civilian have been implicated in the plot, Ramsay-Nelson said. Forbes, 52, is in the United States, she said.
