See migration of whale sharks to southern waters of Belize

Thursday, February 12, 2004

TORONTO, Canada: Every year during the months of April through June, southern Belize offers divers the unique opportunity for spotting -- and diving with -- the large feeder known as the Whale Shark. When in a playful mood, these gentle and curious creatures will hang around for long periods of time.

This Spring, The Inn at Robert's Grove, a beach resort in southern Belize, is offering an 8 Day/7-Night Package during the peak periods for Whale Shark sightings in 2004: April 2-15; May 1-14; and May 31-June 12. Although it's possible to spot whale sharks anytime April - June, the best time to do so during these months are three days before the full moon to three days after the last quarter moon. It's during these times that the Cubera Snappers spawn, attracting the Whale Sharks.

The Robert's Grove 8 day/7-Night Whale Shark Package includes all meals, luxury accommodations, three days of Whale Shark diving (two tanks per day), two days of Reef diving (two tanks per day), all gear, air and land transfers, all applicable taxes, service, and chamber insurance for US$2,055 per person, double occupancy (for April and May dates) and US$1,829 per person, double occupancy (for June dates).

The 32-room Inn at Robert's Grove has been awarded Fodor's star rating and five stars by Belize Guide to Mainland Belize. On 15 acres, the property is owned by Risa and Bob Frackman, transplanted New Yorkers who place an emphasis on great food, hospitality and ease of travel.
