Anguilla children to benefit from Mouton trust donation

Wednesday, January 28, 2004

THE VALLEY, Anguilla: Children in Anguilla wishing to pursue their education can now benefit from a sizable donation to the Anguilla Community Foundation.

The contribution of US$100,000 comes from the Mouton Anguillian Educational Trust and is for the purpose of grants and/or gifts to children born in Anguilla to further their education.

The Mouton Anguillian Educational Trust was established pursuant to the last Will and Testament of Jean Paul Mouton.

Mr Mouton, who was born in Algeria was a Notary by profession and practiced in France. He first visited Anguilla in 1984 and fell in love with the island.

The Anguilla Belonger Commission granted Mr Mouton Belonger status in May 2001, but before he could retire permanently to Anguilla he passed away in December of the same year.

To date the Mouton Anguillian Educational Trust has made gifts to the Omolulu Institute, the Anguilla Chamber of Commerce, the Soroptimist Club of Anguilla, the Anguilla Tourist Board and three gifts of endowment to children attending pre and primary schools.

At present the Foundation is raising money through its 2004 Anguilla Cares Campaign.
