GENEVA, Switzerland: A global technology survey released last month by the World Economic Forum has placed Bermuda amongst the highest ranked nations in terms of internet and computer technology provision.
The Global Information Technology Report examined 102 economies and assessed the spread of important communication and information technologies and the impact this has had on national economies.
In the 2003 report, Bermuda was found to be top of the league table amongst Latin American and Caribbean nations in personal computer penetration and internet use, whilst being the world's leading country jointly with Monaco in terms of operational telephone lines.
"The use and application of ICT remains one of the most powerful engines for economic growth," commented Professor Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum.
