Guyanese embassy to be opened in India
Monday, January 12, 2004
GEORGETOWN, Guyana: During a weeklong diplomatic visit to India, President Bharrat Jagdeo announced plans to open a Guyanese embassy in the South Asian country, the government said.
Jagdeo made the announcement in India, where he was meeting with Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and other Indian leaders, the government said in a statement.
Guyana closed its embassy there more than 10 years ago for lack of funds. No details were given, however, for when the new mission would open or how much it would cost.
