
New Dominica Prime Minister announces cabinet

ROSEAU, Dominica: Dominica's new Prime Minister, Mr Roosevelt Skerrit has announced his cabinet. The announcement came on Friday evening, 24 hours after he was sworn in as Dominica's 7th Prime Minister.
Mr Skerrit has taken over the Ministry of Finance and Planning and relinquished other responsibilities in the Office of the Prime Minister to other Ministers.
Leader of the Dominica Freedom Party, Mr Charles Savarin, remains the Minister for Tourism, Industry and Enterprise Development, but has also taken on the responsibility of Establishment.
Former Finance Minister, Mr Ambrose George, is the new Minister for Agriculture and the Environment.
Mr Vince Henderson now holds the Portfolios of Education, Sports, Youth Affairs and Human Resource Development.
Mr Matthew Walter retains the position of Minister for Community Development and Gender Affairs, but now has control of Information.
All the other Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries under the Pierre Charles Administration have retained their previous positions.
In a separate statement on Saturday, the Government Press Secretary announced that the cause of death of the late Prime Minister of Dominica, Mr Pierre Charles, was acute heart failure as a consequence of left coronary artery occlusion, according to the provisional anatomical diagnosis. He was 49.
