Air Jamaica offers US$299 return fare between New York and Antigua
Saturday, January 10, 2004
MIAMI, USA: Caribbean carrier Air Jamaica is offering a New Year winter sale to celebrate its new non-stop service between New York and Antigua, beginning January 29, 2004.
Effective immediately, passengers can fly from New York to the Caribbean paradise and stay for up to 30 days for a bargain price of US$299 (plus taxes).
"We are keen to develop affordable and reliable air access between Antigua and the United States," said Michael Going, Air Jamaica's Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales. Mr. Going said the new fare coincides with the airline's new schedule to Antigua, featuring four weekly non-stop flights between John F. Kennedy International Airport and V.C. Bird ! International Airport.
Beginning January 30, 2004, the four weekly flights from JFK will operate Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (departing 7:10 a.m., arriving 12:20 p.m.), with the return flights from Antigua slated for Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (departing at 6:30 p.m., arriving at 9:35 p.m.). Currently, the airline serves Antigua with direct (one-stop, same aircraft) or connecting flights via the Montego Bay hub. The special fare is valid between January 29, 2004 and March 31, 2004 and all tickets must be issued on or before January 29, 2004. Passengers originating in Antigua also can take advantage of the special offer.
Antigua and Barbuda's Minister of Tourism, Molwyn Joseph is excited about the new service. "For several years we have been seeking a consistent and reliable service from JFK to Antigua ... and we are very pleased to work with an airline with a leadership that understands the needs of the Caribbean and has an affinity with the region," said Minister Joseph, who described the airline's in-flight service as exceptional.
The minister said his government intends to ensure that this service is a long-term success and an integral part of tourism in the twin-island state. "Antigua and Barbuda when combined with Air Jamaica could easily deliver the best holiday experience that you can ever think about," he said.
Air Jamaica holds the Five Star Diamond Award, a distinction that ranks it among the top airlines of the world. It also has been named "Best Airline to the Caribbean" for six consecutive years at the annual World Travel Awards.
With more than 30 years of service and the most modern fleet serving the region, Air Jamaica operates scheduled service with 380 direct flights a week from Atlanta, Baltimore/Washington, Boston, Chicago, Ft. Lauderdale, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Newark, New York (JFK), Orlando, and Philadelphia in the U.S. and from London and Manchester in Britain to Montego Bay and Kingston in Jamaica.
The carrier also serves Antigua, Barbados, Bonaire, Curaçao, Grand Cayman, Grenada, Haiti, Nassau, Providenciales, Santo Domingo and St. Lucia. Air Jamaica provides more non-stop flights from its North American gateways to the Caribbean than any other carrier serving the region. In addition, the airline's code share agreement with Delta Air Lines, and its joint fare arrangements and compatible schedules with United Air Lines and other U.S. carriers, extends its access to more than 150 cities within the continental U.S.
