Dominica Labor Party chooses new leader

ROSEAU, Dominica: According to a BBC report, Roosevelt Skerrit, 31, the current education minister, has been nominated as leader by the Dominica Labour Party following the death on Tuesday of Prime Minister Pierre Charles at the age of 49.
Dominican President Nicholas Liverpool is expected to approve Mr Skerrit's appointment as Prime Minister.
Mr Skerrit, a former teacher, will be Dominica's youngest leader since the island gained independence from Britain in 1978.
