Air Jamaica's jet service returns to Nassau and Grand Cayman

KINGSTON, Jamaica: Starting January 29, 2004, Air Jamaica's jet service will return to the Nassau and Grand Cayman routes after suspension in 2002.

Air Jamaica's state-of-the-art A321 aircraft will provide service between Montego Bay and Nassau every day except Tuesdays and Thursdays. Flight JM063 departs Montego Bay at 12:40 pm for Nassau arriving at 2:05 pm, while JM062 departs Nassau at 3:15 pm to arrive in Montego Bay at 4:40 pm. 

On the Cayman route, flight JM069 departs the Montego Hub at 12:50 pm to arrive in Grand Cayman at 1:40 pm while on the return flight JM068 departs Grand Cayman at 2:30pm for a 4:45pm arrival in Montego Bay. This new service will be offered daily except Wednesdays. Air Jamaica's modern A321 aircraft with 12 first and 176 economy class seats will also operate on this route.

Deputy Chairman and CEO Christopher Zacca attributes the return to the routes to an increased demand for airlift to/from those islands in recent months. "We have made a commitment to provide the highest quality service that meets the needs of our passengers". 

Mr. Zacca says with the increased demand for airlift, the 37- seat Dash 8 aircraft operated by Air Jamaica Express are unable to adequately service the Nassau and Grand Cayman routes. As a result and with Air Jamaica's return, on January 28, Air Jamaica Express will no longer operate on those routes. 

Mr. Zacca thanked the Air Jamaica Express staff for the incredible job they have done and the excellent service they have provided for our valued passengers. He says Air Jamaica Express continues to provide invaluable service and support to the Jamaican tourist industry and economy. 

The CEO has assured any Express staff dislocated by the changes that they will be given preference for employment as the national airline returns to the routes.

Passengers who are booked to fly on Air Jamaica Express to Nassau and Grand Cayman after January 28, 2004 will all be accommodated on Air Jamaica.
