Britons held in Jamaica on drug charge
Friday, December 26, 2003
MONTEGO Bay, Jamaica: Two British men were arrested at a Jamaican airport and charged with marijuana violations, police have said.
According to the Reading Chronicle, Darren Taitow, 27, a carpenter from London, was arrested on Tuesday at Sangster International Airport in the north-coast resort town of Montego Bay.
Taitow was about to board a flight to London when officers searched his luggage and found marijuana weighing 9 kilos, Mr Salkey said. Anthony Mills, 49, an engineer also from London, was caught trying to board the same flight with 5 kilos of marijuana in one of his suitcases, police said.
Both men are scheduled to appear before magistrates on Monday to face charges of marijuana possession and dealing, and taking steps to export the drug.
