
Cable & Wireless introduces 'hiptop'® in the Cayman Islands

GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands: Cable & Wireless last week announced the availability of their new hiptop® in the Cayman Islands. The hiptop is a wireless all-in-one device that combines a fully featured mobile phone with a variety of high-speed data communication applications, including an HTML Web browser, an embedded email account, AOL® Instant Messenger(TM), a personal organizer, games and other features -- all viewable on a crisp 65,000 color display with a full QWERTY keyboard for data entry.
Cable & Wireless is the first operator to launch a GSM/GPRS network in the Caribbean basin. The company selected the hiptop device to showcase its new data network and differentiate its retail offerings for customers in this region.
Mr Tim Adam, General Manager of Cable & Wireless said that the introduction of the new hiptop reinforces the company's commitment to provide the world's best technology in the Caribbean.
"Our customers will receive an industry-recognized solution that delivers always-on Internet and phone capabilities in a compact, easy-to-use device," he said
Cable & Wireless hiptop users will be able to seamlessly connect to the Cable & Wireless network, bringing the benefits of voice telephony, instant messaging, email (with attachments), HTML Web browsing, organizer functionality, a digital camera accessory, phone text messaging and gaming. The device will be available for US$365 with service pricing offering unlimited data access for US$48.
