US Virgin Islands earns Award of Excellence
Tuesday, November 18, 2003
US VIRGIN ISLANDS: The USVI Commissioner of Tourism Pamela C. Richards has announced that the United States Virgin Islands has been selected to receive the 2003 Award of Excellence from Corporate & Incentive Travel Magazine. The magazine's subscribers voted for tourism bureaus that best served corporate meetings and/or incentive travel programs in the past year.
"The meetings and incentives market is one of our key niche markets," Commissioner Richards said. "Our islands provide the perfect venues for effective, yet fun, business meetings. Our year-round warm temperatures, first-class accommodations, professional atmosphere and numerous land- and water-based activities provide meeting planners a unique alternative for corporate and incentive travel programs."
In a recent ballot poll, readers of the magazine selected the USVI for this award, one of the symbols of excellence among meeting planners. The readers are corporate sales and marketing executives, full-time meeting professionals and event planners, trade-show directors and association executives involved with planning conventions and meetings.
It has been determined among this niche market that St. Croix, St. John and St. Thomas offer superb meeting facilities, state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment and breathtaking views. The USVI will be listed in the 2003 Awards of Excellence Booklet, a supplement to the magazine's November issue.
Representatives from the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism accepted the award during the magazine's Gala Awards Dinner held at Crown Plaza Resort in Manhattan's Times Square on November 8, 2003.
