Dominica needs quality not quantity

Sunday, November 16, 2003

ROSEAU, Dominica: Dominica is a beautiful country and it needs quality development not quantity development stated Texan billionaire Allen Stanford in a live telephone interview with state-owned DBS Radio.

Speaking from his headquarters in Antigua, where he now calls home, Stanford disclosed that Dominica would come in for some investment from his group of companies next year. He declined to give details on the proposed project for the ''nature island'' of the Caribbean.

Stanford also said he would only invest in five-star businesses and not in a stadium or an international airports as Dominican callers to the station had hoped.

A new airline Caribbean Sun, owned by the billionaire, is expected shortly to offer direct flights from Dominica to Puerto Rico on a weekly basis.

The Caribbean Star, another airline owned by Stanford, is currently linking Dominica with most Caribbean islands.
