BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe (AFP): West Indies were just one wicket away from victory in the second Test against Zimbabwe on Saturday after a day in which 19 wickets fell for only 205 runs.
Brian Lara's side will wrap up victory on Sunday morning after Zimbabwe finished the fourth day on 90-9 in their second innings.
Earlier, the home side had dismissed the West Indies for just 128 and were even thinking of victory themselves at that stage chasing a target of 233.
When the close came on Saturday, only skipper Heath Streak and Blessing Mahwire were left to carry the match into a final day still needing 143 to win.
The day began with Lara, who made 191 in his first innings, rushing to the dressing room for treatment after being stung by a bee - half an hour afterwards he was yorked by Streak, who removed his middle stump for just one.
That seemed to herald a sudden collapse by the tourists.
Wavell Hinds dug in for his 28, the highest score of the day. But his partners at the top and middle order managed only 43 runs between them.
Were it not for a partnership of 45 by Omari Banks and Mervyn Dillon, the entire team might not have reached the 100 mark.
It was yet another triumph for Ray Price, the Zimbabwe left-arm spinner, who took 4-36 to take his tally to 19 wickets at little more than 20 runs each in the first two Tests.
The target of 233 was always going to be a tough one for Zimbabwe, but their prospects were all but dashed when Vusi Sibanda went for a duck and his partner at the top, Trevor Gripper made only eight.
The procession of batsmen to and from the pavilion, which began from the first over, continued through the day.
Zimbabwe's 90-9 was their worst score in Tests since they were knocked over by West Indies four years ago for 63 when chasing only 99 to win.
