Arrest in England in 20-year old Guyana murder enquiry
Tuesday, November 11, 2003
NORWICH, England: British police have arrested a man on suspicion of a murder that happened in Guyana in 1982. Brian Spencer, who was believed to be a Guyanese national, died from injuries sustained after being shot.
According to the Suffolk Evening Star, initial enquiries into Mr Spencer's death were carried out by the Guyanese authorities but British police launched their own investigation into the murder earlier this year, in connection with other agencies including Interpol, after receiving crucial information about the incident.
The British police are treating Mr Spencer's death as murder and an unnamed 41-year-old man was arrested at his home in Suffolk, England Monday morning.
He has been taken to a police station for questioning.
