Saturday, November 8, 2003
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts: Scores of passengers were stranded in St Kitts early Friday morning due to industrial action by air traffic controllers in Antigua over the non-payment of October salaries by the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.
Flights by LIAT and Caribbean Star Airlines out of Antigua into St. Kitts were not operating Friday morning due to the strike.
However, Manager of TDC Airlines, Mr. Elroy Lewis said that arrangements were being made for LIAT flights to depart from Barbados and Trinidad for St. Kitts with passengers for the Federation and neighboring islands further north including Anguilla, St. Maarten, St. Thomas and St. Croix.
Mr. Lewis said he could not provide information on Caribbean Star Airlines.
Flights by WINAIR, Caribbean Sun and American Eagle are operating normally and are not affected by the closure of the airport in Antigua.
