
New High Court judge appointed in Anguilla and Montserrat

BRADES, Montserrat: Justice Janice M. George-Creque, a new High Court judge from the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, has been assigned to the British Overseas Territories of Anguilla and Montserrat.
A native of Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands, Justice Creque, who is married with two children, began her stint on the Bench in Montserrat on Monday during the November assizes.
She is a graduate of the University of the West Indies with a Bachelor of Laws Degree (Honours) and a Certificate of Legal Education from the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica.
Justice Creque was a Partner in the British Virgin Islands law firm Farara George-Creque & Kerins from 1991-2003.
She has been engaged in active practice at the Bar in the conduct of matters at all levels of the Courts since 1985.
Her concentrated areas of work have been Commercial - Litigation/ Non Litigation, Conveyancing, Probate & Family, Corporate and Admiralty law.
Justice Creque was appointed Judge of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court by His Lordship The Honorable Chief Justice Sir Dennis Byron on September 1, 2003.
She has held several judicial offices including Registrar- International Business Companies and Registrar of the Supreme Court in the BVI.
In 1983, Justice Creque also served as Supervisor of General Elections in the British Virgin Islands. She replaces Justice Ola-Mae Edwards of Jamaica.
