Island hopping in the Caribbean

Sunday, November 2, 2003

KINGSTON, Jamaica: A number of regional airlines are currently offering programmes that allow travellers to island hop at reduced or inclusive fares.

"We want people to think of the Caribbean as more than one destination," said Allen Chastanet, an Air Jamaica spokesman.

"Anyone who experiences two islands is likely to come back again," said Jennifer Carlson-Linskey of Leeward Islands Air Transport (LIAT). "The islands are so different."

Air Jamaica:

  • Island Hopper: visit two islands for the price of one by flying to Jamaica and then continuing to any of the other islands served by the airline, paying only the fare to the most distant destination.

  • Caribbean Hopper: visit an unlimited number of Air Jamaica destinations out of Jamaica for 30 days at a cost of $575.
