Tuesday, October 14, 2003
KINGSTON, Jamaica: An 80th minute goal from substitute Roland Dean gave Jamaica's Under-23 soccer team a 1-0 win over Cuba in a CONCACAF zone Olympic qualifying match played over the weekend.
Keith Kelly, another substitute, sent a pass to Dean on Sunday, 12th October, who shot it past goalkeeper Luis Estrada.
Jamaica will play either Guatemala or Suriname in their next match on 15th November. The winner of that tie advances to the CONCACAF play-off in February in Mexico City.
The winners of the CONCACAF zone earn a place at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
Meanwhile, the Guyana National Under-12 team rewrote local Olympic football history by advancing to the second round for the first time with a 5-3 aggregate over Barbados on Sunday.
