
Antigua takes Repatriation of Prisoners Act to Parliament

ST. JOHN'S, Antigua: The government of Antigua and Barbuda will soon make the transfer of prisoners between Antigua and Barbuda and other countries, a law.
A government statement yesterday morning said legal draftsmen in the Ministry of Justice and Legal Affairs are finalizing the Repatriation of Prisoners Act which will be presented in Parliament by Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Mr. Lester Bird, when the Lower House meets on Tuesday 14th October.
The law will ensure that criminals detained in prison, hospitals or other institutions as a result of a court ruling, will serve their sentence in their native country.
