Bajan police arrest British man for allegedly smuggling marijuana

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados: A British man, allegedly trying to smuggle 24 pounds of marijuana to Barbados on a flight from Jamaica, was yesterday nabbed by local police.

Mr. Lloyd Cedric Palmer, 46, of London, was detained at Barbados' international airport when authorities found eight packages of marijuana inside his suitcase, AP quoted police as saying. Mr. Palmer, a painter, was later charged with possession, trafficking, and intent to supply and attempted importation of marijuana.

He faces more than three years in prison if convicted. No further details were available.
