Saturday, October 11, 2003

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico: A tropical storm warning remained in effect for the southeastern Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands last night as Tropical Storm Mindy, the latest for the season, churned towards the islands.

Late last night, Mindy was located about 155 miles southeast of the Grand Turk Island and was moving toward the northwest near 12 mph.

Mindy is the 13th named storm this season, forecasters say. The Bahamas government has issued a tropical storm warning for the far southeastern Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos. Mindy has the potential to strengthen over the next 24 hours, forecasters added.
