Four minors charged with manslaughter in Bahamas

Saturday, October 11, 2003

NASSAU, Bahamas: The hunt for one of the five missing boys in Grand Bahama is over. Police yesterday charged four minors with manslaughter in connection with the case of 12-year-old Jake Grant, the Associated Press reported last night.

The four boys appeared at Freeport's Garnett J. Levarity Justice Center, a juvenile courthouse, yesterday. But police released no details, including whether or not they had found a body, according to AP

The case of the five missing boys has riveted the residents of the small island of Grand Bahama and its capital, Freeport, where the disappearances took place over a five-month span.
The first three - Grant, Mackinson Colas, 11, and DeAngelo McKenzie, 13, - went missing within 18 days of each other in May. Junior Reme, 11, disappeared 30th June. The last, Desmond Rolle, 14, never made it home 28th September from his job packing groceries at a supermarket.
