Bahamas seeks energy help from Trinidad
Thursday, October 9, 2003
NASSAU, Bahamas: The Bahamas government has made an appeal to Trinidad for petroleum products in light of "extremely high" energy costs. The Manning government, according to AP, is considering investing in a gas terminal and pipeline from the Bahamas to Florida.
A government communique said the appeal was made on Friday, 3rd October, by Bahamian Trade Minister, Mr. Leslie Miller, who held discussions with T&T Energy Minister, Mr. Eric Williams.
According to the statement, Mr. Miller sought details on how to help countries in the 15-nation Caribbean Community (Caricom) meet their energy needs.
At the last Caricom summit held in Jamaica, Trinidad's Prime Minister, Mr. Patrick Manning, promised to help countries in the region on energy supply matters.
