Tuesday, October 7, 2003

MAHO, St. Marteen: Regional tourism ministers are in St. Marteen today for the opening of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) tenth annual conference and trade show.

The conference, which will be held at the Maho Beach Resort and Casino as well as the Beach Plaza Hotel aims to discuss developments in the cruise industry and to network for more business ties, according to the Daily Herald, the island's newspaper.

The $20 per passenger tax, proposed by several Caribbean countries is also sure to come up for discussion.

The FCCA has 11 cruise lines with a combined 100-plus vessels as members. The cruise ships mainly operate between Florida, the Caribbean and Mexico.
