Caricom summit opens in St. Kitts

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts: Today is opening day for the conference of heads of state of the Caribbean Community in St. Kitts.

Professor Simon Jones-Hendrickson, St. Kitts and Nevis' Ambassador to the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States, the Caribbean Community and the Association of Caribbean States will welcome delegates to the conference.

 This year's delegates will include Governors-General, Sir Clifford Husbands of Barbados; Sir Howard Crooke of Jamaica; Sir James Carlisle of Antigua and Barbuda; Sir Colville Young of Belize; Dame Pearlette Louisy of St. Lucia; Sir Daniel Williams of Grenada; Sir Frederick Ballantyne of St. Vincent and the Grenadines; Dame Ivy Dumont of The Bahamas; and Dr. Sir Cuthbert Sebastian of St. Kitts and Nevis and Presidents Mr. George Richards of Trinidad and Tobago and Dr. Nicholas Liverpool of Dominica. 

The meeting, which will run through the 10th of October, will be held under the theme: "Contending with Global Challenges: An Inspiration for Regional Development and Sustainability."
