Guyanese contractor found dead in Barbados was murdered

GEORGETOWN, Guyana: Guyanese contractor, Mr. Ronald Ramjit, who was found dead in his Barbados house on Monday morning, 29th September, was murdered, according to a post mortem report.

The Guyana Stabroek News says Mr. Ramjit was apparently beaten and then shot behind the head. Barbados police have also recovered one .32 spent shell from the bedroom where his body was discovered.

The paper quoted his son, Mr. Mark Ramjit, as saying that he believed his father was the victim of a murder/robbery since since all of his money along with some $3M worth of gold and diamond jewellery was missing. The assailant/s also carried away a number of his personal belongings including his bank card.

The 52-year-old carpenter/contractor with the Ramcon Construction Company of Barbados was originally from Better Hope, East Coast Demerara.

The senior Ramjit will be buried in Guyana on Sunday. Barbados police continue to investigate the murder.
