
Turks & Caicos officials attend 49th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference

GRAND TURK, Turks & Caicos: A Turks and Caicos delegation of three members left the islands yesterday morning for Bangladesh, to attend the 49th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference.
Minister of Health, Social Services and Gender Affairs, Ms. Karen Delancy, is heading the delegation along with the Member for West Road, Grand Turk, Mr. Dwayne Taylor and Regional Secretary/Clerk to Legislative Council, Mrs. Ruth Blackman.
They are expected to arrive in Bangladesh on Saturday 4th October. The conference will run until 12th October. This year's conference is being held under the theme "Partnerships for global peace and prosperity."
Key issues to be discussed include parliament and the executive; peacekeeping mechanisms for preserving World Order; millennium development goals; reconciling human rights with cultural diversity; increasing trade and investment opportunities for developing nations and anti-terrorism legislation.
