Belize Foreign Minister meets Secretary of State Powell

BELMOPAN, Belize: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Godfrey Smith, along with Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Central American Integration System, met with the United States Secretary of State, Mr. Colin Powell, recently to discuss several issues that are affecting the Central American Isthmus. Of particular importance was the Central American Free Trade Agreement with the United States, a government statement said.
Secretary of State Powell reportedly expressed satisfaction on efforts made on these areas and pledged the United States continued support to the region. Mr. Powell was accompanied to the meeting by U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere, Mr. Roger Norriega, and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Mr. John
Negroponte.
