Thursday, October 2, 2003

BROOKLYN, New York: St. Lucia Prime Minister, Dr Kenny D. Anthony, was released from Brooklyn's Kings County Hospital Centre yesterday, the St. Lucia diplomatic office in New York said. Hospital officials have announced that Prime Minister Anthony "has been responding well to medical treatment and his health continues to improve daily."

Hospital's Associate Executive Director for Communications and Business Development, Mr. Peter Griffith, was quoted as saying that Dr Anthony is expected to gain "a full recovery."

Acting Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre said "although the Prime Minister was released from hospital…, he needs a period of rest and will return home shortly."

Mr. Pierre, whose acting appointment began on Tuesday, presided over yesterday's meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, which also heard an update on the Prime Minister's medical condition and the news of his release from the hospital in Brooklyn.
